What is MOFA attestation
The final stamp before your documents are accepted in the Gulf

Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) attestation represents the concluding phase in document verification for Gulf countries. It requires prior authentication from the relevant state departments, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), and the destination country's embassy or consulate in New Delhi.

We handle the entire chain on your behalf — state authentication, MEA attestation, embassy legalization, and finally MOFA attestation — so your document is fully ready for use in the destination country.

Important: MOFA doesn't attest the genuineness of your documents and certificates — it only verifies that the prior signatures and stamps are authentic. Applicants remain responsible for the accuracy of their document's content.

Common questions
MOFA Attestation FAQs
How long does MOFA attestation take?
Around 12 to 15 working days for standard cases. Commercial documents typically take 7–10 days, while educational documents need a minimum of 15 days, depending on the destination country.
Does MOFA verify the content of my documents?
No. MOFA doesn't attest the genuineness of your documents and certificates — it only confirms that the prior signatures and stamps are authentic. Applicants are responsible for the accuracy of their document's content.
What needs to happen before MOFA attestation?
Your document must already have state-level authentication, MEA attestation, and legalization from the destination country's embassy or consulate in New Delhi before MOFA will accept it.
Which countries does MOFA attestation cover?
We handle MOFA attestation for UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait and other Gulf Cooperation Council nations.
What are the MOFA attestation fees?
MOFA attestation costs vary depending on your document type, quantity, and destination country. We offer some of the most competitive prices in the market — share your document list with us at Services@EmbassyDocuments.com for an exact, no-obligation quote.
What documents are required for MOFA attestation?
Your document must be an original or a certified true copy, signed and stamped by the relevant issuing authority. It must already be legalized by the destination country's embassy or consulate in New Delhi before it becomes eligible for MOFA's final stamp and signature.
Is MOFA attestation necessary?
Yes — you cannot obtain a resident, family, or work visa for most Gulf countries without it. MOFA attestation is only carried out once all prior attestation steps (state, MEA, and embassy legalization) are complete. In the UAE specifically, it's required before applying for a residence permit through the Labour Ministry, and it's mandatory for family visas across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and Bahrain.
What is a MOFA stamp?
The MOFA stamp is applied on the back of your document by the destination country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It confirms that the document — and every prior signature and stamp on it — is authentic and accepted for use in that country, typically for residence, work, or study visa applications.
How do I get a MOFA attestation appointment?
For destinations like Saudi Arabia, appointments are booked directly on the country's official MOFA portal by entering your document details. We handle this scheduling and submission on your behalf as part of our service, so you don't need to navigate the portal yourself.
